Obituary

Willie Brown, Jr. better known as “Buck” was born on September 14, 1938, to the Late Willie Brown, Sr. and Mary Palmer Brown in Georgetown, South Carolina.

Buck was raised in Lake City, South Carolina. He attended Carver High School where he played bass drum in the marching band. He visited South Florida as a young adult and decided to stay since he found better employment opportunities.

After a serious accident while working on Florida’s Turnpike, Buck spent one year as a patient at Provident Hospital where he made lifelong friends.

Buck was a faithful and active member of Mt. Hermon AME Church for more than 30 years.      He served on Usher Board No. 3.

He was an entrepreneur, an avid traveler, and sports enthusiast. He had a strong work ethic.

Buck had a magnetic personality and made friends easily. He also had strong family values.       He enjoyed cooking, watching sports, and spending quality time with family and friends.

On Sunday, November 14, 2021, The Lord called Buck home. He was preceded in death by his older brother Robert Lee Brown and his daughter Kim.

Buck leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 22 years Mary Jean Watts-Brown; sister Julia Miller; his children Chauncey and Carolyn; his stepdaughters Karen and Elizabeth (Keith); grandchildren Jasmin, Kiante, William (Alexandra), Victoria, and Cristina; great grandchildren Kimari, Kyndal, and Karsyn; sisters-in-law Jerutha and Joyce; brothers-in-law David (Althea), Gilbert (Evelyn), Samuel (Alyce); and a host of loving family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in memory of Willie Brown, Jr. be made to:
